Tyler Perry and Tom Cruise win big at the box office

Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween and the Tom Cruise-led sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back are the clear box office winners in a strong weekend that saw moviegoers spread the love around.

Boo! is on top with ease. Perry's latest holiday-themed comedy earned an estimated $27.6 million at the domestic box office, two weekends before Halloween.

That's the fourth-largest opening for Tyler Perry-branded features to date, after Why Did I Get Married Too? ($29.3 million), Madea's Family Reunion ($30 million) and Madea Goes to Jail ($41 million).
